Planning your New Year’s Eve celebrations and travel in Dubai? Here are the essential details for using the Dubai Metro during the festive period.
Extended Operating Hours:
In a significant service extension, both the Red and Green Lines of the Dubai Metro will run continuously for 45 hours straight. Services will begin at 5:00 AM on Wednesday, 31 December 2025, and will continue non-stop until 11:59 PM on Thursday, 1 January 2026.
This marathon operation is designed to accommodate both New Year’s Eve revelers heading to and from fireworks displays and events, as well as residents and visitors enjoying the extended holiday.
Important Travel Tip:
Before you begin your journey, ensure your nol Card is topped up. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) recommends a minimum balance to cover your planned travel:
- Silver Card: At least AED 15 for a round-trip.
- Gold Card: At least AED 30 for a round-trip.
Checking your balance in advance will help you avoid delays at the ticket gates during what is expected to be exceptionally busy periods.
Plan Ahead for a Smooth Journey:
- Expect Crowds: Stations near major event venues (like Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall) will be extremely busy. Allow extra time.
- Check Your Route: Confirm your start and end stations, and any potential line changes, ahead of time.
- Stay Updated: For any last-minute service announcements, refer to official RTA channels.
