The Ras Al Khaimah tourism authority has announced a spectacular New Year’s Eve celebration on Al Marjan Island. According to the event organisers, visitors can expect fireworks, drone shows and other special events to ring in the new year at midnight on 31 December. The seaside location promises dramatic views as pyrotechnics and illuminated drones paint the sky over the Arabian Gulf.
Parking and transportation
To manage the crowd safely, authorities are providing four designated parking areas. These are G’s Parking, Yanas Parking, Daya Parking and Exit 122. These car parks will serve as gathering points where shuttle buses will transport spectators to the viewing zones. Signage will direct drivers to the appropriate car parks and visitors are asked to arrive early to avoid congestion. Vehicles heading to Yanaz or Daya parking or directly to Al Marjan Island should use the second exit onto Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Street.
After‑event exit procedures
When the celebrations end, cars must follow the traffic plan to leave safely. The exit routes are as follows:
- Yaras Parking: motorists should exit via Al‑Shuhada Street and continue towards Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311).
- Daya Parking: drivers must take the road through the industrial area towards Al‑Shuhada Street.
- Other routes: cars can proceed via Al‑Samir Road towards Ras al‑Khaimah or use Exit 122 to reach Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road.
- Emirates roundabout: vehicles approaching this junction are instructed to turn left onto Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.
Parking along the sides of main roads is strictly prohibited, and police and marshals will guide traffic to ensure a smooth exit.
Access restrictions and safety rules
After the designated parking areas close, access to Al Marjan Island will be limited to island residents and people with confirmed hotel reservations. Drivers should carry proof of booking to present at checkpoints. Everyone is urged to cooperate with the police, follow the signs and avoid stopping on the highway. This will help maintain traffic flow and ensure emergency vehicles can reach the area if needed.
Plan ahead and stay informed
Visitors planning to attend the festivities should check the official event website for updates and detailed maps. The page provides the latest information on parking, shuttle services and any changes to the traffic plan. By following these instructions and arriving early, families can enjoy a safe and memorable New Year’s Eve on Al Marjan Island.
