The holy month of Ramadan 2025 will officially begin on Saturday, March 1, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), following the sighting of the crescent moon in Saudi Arabia. The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia announced that the moon was sighted on the evening of Friday, February 28, marking the start of Ramadan 1446 AH. As per the Islamic tradition, the UAE, along with other Gulf countries, follows Saudi Arabia’s moon-sighting reports to determine the beginning of Ramadan.
Ramadan in the UAE: What to Expect
Ramadan is a sacred month for Muslims worldwide, marked by fasting from dawn to sunset, increased prayers, and acts of charity. In the UAE, government entities and businesses will adjust their working hours, and the nation will embrace a deeply spiritual atmosphere with special prayers (Taraweeh), Iftar gatherings, and community events.
Reduced Working Hours & Public Guidelines
As per UAE labor laws, working hours for both public and private sector employees will be reduced during Ramadan. Restaurants, shopping malls, and public transport schedules will also be adjusted to accommodate Ramadan timings.
Authorities have advised residents to be mindful of Ramadan customs, including refraining from eating, drinking, or smoking in public during fasting hours out of respect for those observing the fast.
Eid al-Fitr 2025 Expected in Early April
Ramadan is observed for 29 or 30 days, depending on the next moon sighting. This means that Eid al-Fitr 2025 is expected to fall on April 1 or April 2, marking the end of fasting and the beginning of celebrations.
The UAE government will soon announce the official public holidays for both Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.
Wishing Everyone a Blessed Ramadan
As the UAE prepares for a month of spiritual reflection, generosity, and community gatherings, we extend warm wishes to all observing Ramadan. Ramadan Kareem!
