As of 2025, the UAE continues to enforce a visa restriction for Bangladeshi nationals. The ban, which has been in place for several years, remains unchanged, preventing new visit visas, work permits, and even family sponsorships for Bangladeshi expatriates.
Bangladeshi Population in the UAE
Currently, Bangladeshis make up approximately 7.38% of the UAE’s total population, accounting for nearly 920,000 residents. A significant portion of them are employed in labor-intensive sectors such as construction, cleaning, and other non-professional roles.
Reasons Behind the Visa Ban
According to Muhammed Muhsin, a Public Relations Officer (PRO) at Harf Assistant, the primary reasons for the visa restrictions include:
- Overstaying issues among Bangladeshi nationals
- Illegal employment practices within the UAE
- International diplomatic concerns
Commenting on the matter, Muhammed Muhsin (Assistant PRO at Harf Typing and Documents Clearing) stated, “The main reasons behind the continued ban are overstaying, illegal employment, and some international affairs concerns. There is no indication that the restrictions will be lifted anytime soon.”
Impact on Bangladeshi Residents in the UAE
The ban extends beyond work and visit visas. Even family sponsorships are currently prohibited, meaning Bangladeshi residents in the UAE cannot bring their family members on dependent visas. Additionally, freelance visas for Bangladeshi applicants remain blocked.
Future Outlook
As of now, there is no official announcement regarding the lifting of these restrictions. Bangladeshi nationals seeking to enter the UAE must explore alternative legal pathways or wait for further updates from UAE authorities.

Dear Sir.
I am from Bangladesh and have been employed as an HSE officer in a company in Abu Dhabi since 2005. I recently received an excellent job offer from another company, but I am unable to transfer due to visa restrictions. I respectfully urge the UAE government to permit internal visa transfers for Bangladeshis, allowing us to pursue better career opportunities. Many others, like me, are eagerly awaiting this opportunity.

Subject: Request for Introduction of Transfer Visas for Laid-Off Workers from Bangladesh
To Whom It May Concern,
I humbly request the esteemed UAE government to consider introducing a transfer visa policy for laid-off workers from Bangladesh. Many Bangladeshi nationals have contributed to the UAE’s development for years, displaying dedication and loyalty. Unfortunately, some have been laid off or are facing stagnant wages despite their long-term service, while newer employees from other countries are receiving higher salaries for similar roles.
Allowing a transfer visa system would enable these experienced workers to continue contributing to the UAE economy without the need to return home or face unemployment. Such a move would not only support fairness and stability for these individuals but also benefit UAE employers by retaining skilled and committed professionals.
We sincerely hope the authorities will take this appeal into consideration for the welfare of long-standing workers and continued prosperity of the UAE.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
