DUBAI, UAE – The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has announced a significant infrastructure development project in Al Awir 1, featuring 16.5 kilometers of internal roads and improved access to Emirates Road.
His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA, stated: “This project aligns with RTA’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure in residential areas, including road networks, lighting, and rainwater drainage systems. The objective is to accommodate the increasing traffic congestion, improve traffic flow, and enhance road safety. Al Awir 1 is a key residential area.”
The comprehensive development plan includes creating a new entrance to Al Awir 1 from Emirates Road, complete with intersections and roundabouts designed to streamline traffic flow and reduce travel times for residents. A notable feature of the project is the addition of a new lane on Emirates Road, extending from the Al Awir 1 entrance to the Sharjah border, which is expected to boost the road’s capacity by 16%.
The initiative demonstrates Dubai’s commitment to upgrading infrastructure in established residential neighborhoods. By improving connectivity and reducing congestion, the project aims to enhance the quality of life for Al Awir 1 residents while supporting the area’s growing transportation needs.
The announcement, made through RTA’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, represents another step in Dubai’s strategic approach to infrastructure development. The improvements are expected to benefit both local residents and commuters traveling between Dubai and Sharjah.
